The only difference between a storage hot water unit with a 5 year warranty compared to a 10 year warranty is a second anode. So if the manufactures are willing to double their warranty then it must be a good thing. They should be replaced every 5 years or so. I can come and have a look at no cost. The age of the tank will be marked on the removable panel near the burner or on the side of the tank

Are your tap buttons always coming loose? Next time you are at a hardware or plumbing store just get a size 8 oring and push it into the tap handle before you refit the button

When purchasing new taps, be aware of this style with the hidden lock nut holding the handle onto the spindle, they can become corroded within a very short period of time, potentially leaving them unserviceable
